 Mick LaSalle is the film critic for the San Francisco Chronicle\, and the author of two books on the<br />
 pre-Production Code era (1929-34) of Hollywood\, <em>Complicated Women\: Sex and Power in Pre-Code Hollywood</em>\, and <em>Dangerous Men\: Pre-Code Hollywood and the Birth of the Modern Man</em>.
 </p>
 <p class=\\"MsoNormal\\">
 LaSalle will be at Gallery Bookshop on Saturday June 2nd at 3 pm to discuss his work and observations as a film critic and author. His latest book\, <em>The Beauty of the Real</em> (available 5/9/12) examines the new Golden Age of women's films now taking place--not here\, but in France.
 </p>
 <p class=\\"MsoNormal\\">
 LaSalle has taught at UC Berkeley extension and lectured at film festivals around the country\, and<br />
 teaches film courses at Stanford University. Between 1994 and 1999\, he was the  -air film critic for KGO-TV in San Francisco. His first article for the SF Chronicle appeared on September 18\, 1985\, commemorating Greta Garbo’s 80th birthday.
